                Today’s class was very short, and mostly focused on the paper that is going to be due next week.  I like how Paul doesn’t make us stay the entire time of the class. I remember taking my biology 101 class a few semesters ago which is a three hour long once a week class. I really dreaded taking long classes but my friends that took it before told me that they usually let you out early almost every class as long as you get all your work done.  However, that did not happen with the professor. She made us stay the whole time no matter what….

                Out of the two readings we had to do I found the one about Discourses to be more informative to read. I like how the author includes hierarchy into which Discourses are more accepted than others. Personally I found myself to be in three Discourses right away which were an accountant, Asian America, and Northern Californian.

                One of the Discourses I wish I was in is a basketball player. Speaking of basketball, the NBA finals game 2 is on at the moment and the Heat are winning! They need to win tonight or they will be down 2 games to 0 and teams that have been down 2 games to 0 in the NBA finals usually don’t make a comeback.

                Not until today that I know that blogging could be done professionally. I always thought blogging was something you just did when and where ever you felt like. It could be about anything as long as you’re personally interested in it.  Most of the bloggers I know are females that blog through tumblr which seems to be the most popular blogging site. Those tips or rules about blogging were very helpful as it informed me about what blogging really is. It’s like a personally online dairy in a sense that everyone and anyone can see if they know your site.

I like the readings that were assigned for homework. They
didn't make me feel stupid because I could clearly understand and relate
to them in one way or another. My favorite one was probably the
first reading we had to do which was about the shitty first drafts. I learned
that even professional writers have trouble getting started. Overall I learned that
writers write because it's something they love to do, almost everybody has trouble
writing in the beginning, reading can take you take you away to a far far place, and
don't let your inner critic stop you from writing or anything else for that matter that you want
to pursue.


Today is the first day of the NBA finals which the Miami Heat will play the
Oklahoma Thunder. Thunder are favored to win this year but I'm rooting for the Heat
because my one of my favorite players Dwayne Wade is on that team roster. I hope that
the games will be exciting to watch! I think that Heat will win in seven games also. Lebron needs
to win it this year or else he'll be even more criticized and hated on than he already is. 


I still have a sketchy feeling of how my first major paper will turn out because my recording
of myself during my writing process only lasted about 20-25mins. I'm a quick writer unless I have no
idea what to write. I'll work with what I got I guess.


The PIE information Paul taught in class today was very informative and helpful. I felt sad for the bulls after learning that they're not actually that aggressive and mean while writing our PIE in class. I was on YouTube after coming home from class and searched some videos of it. It was terrible and awful to see how they torture and ridicule the bull to make them act like that. Learn something new everyday I guess.

6/6/12 Homework Blog Post.

Today was the second day of class. It went by very fast for an English course
compared to my previous English courses at SFSU.

We had two reading assignments that we had to read before class that evening.
I read the first one Perl and found it to be some what informative and confusing at the same time.
What I took away from reading Perl is that bad writers tend to write in a pattern and not
just randomly putting things together. It's very normal for a person to do things in a pattern or routine.

The second assignment we had to read was based on the group you were put into. I was put into the group
were we had to read about Decisions and Revisions: The Planning Strategies of a Publishing Writer which was really confusing to me while reading it. It's about a study of how a professional writer's writing process occurs. Based on the information the professional writer Donald M. Murray did little to none revisions but spend most of his time planning it all out.

Towards the end of class we got to hear four writers tell their stories from online audio. I liked all of them because they were either something I could relate to or picture in my mind clearly. I found the last one to be funny because during my childhood when Pokemon was at it's very peak of popularity I wanted to go to Pokemon card battles but never did.

After that Paul informed us about our first major paper. I found paper to be different but in a weird way. It's going to be weird just recording yourself during the process of writing your reflective paper because when I write my papers it takes a while.. Also they're might be curse words, long pauses, and random stuff. I tend to multitask when I write my papers like I'll probably have Microsoft word open but also watching t.v., eating, or listening to music. I guess I'm one of those who have writer's block.

First Day Of Class. (6/4/12)

     Today was the first day of my last English course requirement at SFSU before I graduate.
The first day went smoothly. The class was smaller than I thought which was a good thing because it's easy to learn in smaller classes. The professor was dynamic in the way that he wanted to help the students
learn unlike my previous English professors. In the very first activity all the students had to write a fact about themselves which was unique or unexpected of them to have. I wrote something just off the top of my head instead I wished I would of wrote the time I went drunk river rafting near Sacrament, CA. Going river rafting with ten friends with two rafts while half of you guys are drunk and/or don't know how to swim wasn't such a bright idea. That was one unforgettable experience to say that least. After we finished that activity we broke up into groups and presented a shot story that was assigned to your group. My group got Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie. Overall, I thought it was a good story because of the main points it had like how stereotypes are difficult to break down and opportunities are always there but not always easy. Finally we finished the class with a diagnostic two page writing assignment on your writing experiences and what you would like to take away from the class once you've finished it. What I wanted to take away from this course was simply to become a better writer. I've always had trouble beginning and finishing essays for my English classes because there's really no direction or way you could go. English is in a way free. You can come at a topic from various point of views unlike mathematical equations which usually one has one clear way of solving it and answer. I didn't want to compare English to math because it's typical and redundant. I just hope by the end of this class I can write like a college graduate should be able to write.
